I wouldn't want to risk the injuries that turf fields create, especially in the regional championship when there are still 2 games remaining. That stuff is nasty and they should do away with it.
I've always wanted to play on turf but i'd rather have home feild advantage
Colorist, of course Phil Robbins would want to play the game on turf at UVA-Wise if they are to defeat GC in the first round. That would take away Haysi's home field advantage that they rightfully earned from the regular season. Face it, Robbins isn't used to having to travel for playoff games. He lost last year at Honaker in the first round and all that was heard from him was excuses after the game. The man is the biggest sore loser in all of SWVA. If he doesn't have the home field advantage, he doesn't want anyone else to have it either.

Yeah lol. Everyone in Honaker caused it to rain that day, and of course Powell Valley whined about it, what with our ability to control the weather and all. We also made sure we put that special kind of dirt that turns into mud when it gets wet on our field, PV's field is Scotch Guard protected. [img]wink.gif[/img] I remember seeing the headline after the game (in the Kingsport Times or Bristol Herald-Courier), "Honaker Defeats Powell Valley; in a Quagmire" [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
I remember my dad telling me about when he played PV and they beat them by a few points Phill Robbins got in the news paper and talked about what a horrible game PV played and how much better they were than that. His words were "instead of the super bowl we played the toilet bowl". My dad has hated that man ever since hahaha
My previous post was not from Phil Robbins view point, it was from a departmental supervisor point of view. Like any coach to his team, I am responsible in educating and cross training my employees.
Before introducing any new chemicals or materials to my men, I always talk to the supplier and learn everything I can about the product. I study the MSDS sheets, and review each one with all affected employees.
Like myself to my guys it is a coaches responsibility to give his team the tools needed to do thier job properly. The most important tools in either case is safty and knowledge. Playing on turf in round two can only assist in educating either team if they are fortunate enough to advance to the state championship game.
In a quick review of my original post one might find that the fist line indicated that I do not even expect Phil Robbins to be coaching in the second round. If Powell Valley can not compete with Gate City at Bullitt, I am unable to conceive that they can dethrone the Blue Devils at Leagion. Haysi has an excellent chance of understanding why Gate City has suffered only one home defeat sinse returning to the single "A" ranks. I am not saying that Haysi will lose, but in order to return from Scott County with a victory any team better play a near perfect game.
Good luck to all the region "D" teams in the playoffs, both Div 1 & Div 2.

Now I'm not sayin Honaker and Haysi prob couldn't do better than 3rd place, which is how Clintwood did this year, but this thread is about Rye Cove, now isn't it?? I would rank the 3rd best team in the Lonesome Pine over the best in the Cumberland any day. [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img] They seriously need to re-do the districts, and I think the Cumberland needs to be the first to be looked at. Move Gate City and maybe Lebanon to the Cumberland, see if Rye Cove can "get the job done" then. But like there would be a chance in hell those schools would wanna join the CD anyway. Heck, look how far down the toilet sports in Castlewood went after they left the HOGO for the CD.
